A New Beginning, A Fresh Start!
As we bid farewell to the old and welcome the new, on behalf of Scout Association of Hong Kong, I extend my sincerest gratitude and New Year’s blessings to all those who have consistently supported and cared for our development, as well as to all our Scout brothers and sisters!
Reflecting on the Past: A Year of Glorious Achievements
In the past year, the "WE@FUTURE Jamboree" held on Qi'ao Island, Zhuhai, China showcased the spirit of teamwork and resilience. Every participant actively engaged, supported one another, and fully embodied the core values of Scouting. At the jamboree, not only did everyone overcome numerous challenges, but they also acquired new skills, demonstrated outstanding leadership, and displayed a strong sense of responsibility – all of which deserve high praise!
Additionally, we witnessed the growth and transformation of Scout groups. Every member has contributed their sweat and effort, forged friendships, and continuously pushed their limits through challenges, living up to the Scout Promise and Law. We firmly believe that each individual is like a shining star, capable of radiating their unique brilliance when placed in the right setting. Whether you are a new recruit or a long-time companion who has fought alongside us for years, the Scout Movement is committed to providing a platform for growth, helping you discover your value and realize your dreams through serving others and contributing to society.
Looking Ahead: Embarking on a New Journey
A new year brings new journeys. We will continue to uphold the mission of the Scout Movement, serve society with the spirit of "doing a good turn daily," and face challenges with the "Be Prepared" attitude, fulfilling our responsibilities to our Country. For the coming year, we plan to implement the following major initiatives:
- Comprehensive Implementation of Online Payment and Digital Management
- All Regions and Districts will fully adopt online payment systems.
- We will pilot the redesigned Scout Membership Information System (SMIS), a vital step in our IT development blueprint. This system will allow adult members to easily access and manage personal records.
- This year, we plan to launch electronic processes for leader appointments/renewals in stages, accompanied by new systems such as the Scout Learning System (SLS), an online resource library, digital certificates, and e-communications. These measures aim to streamline the work of frontline leaders and promote paperless operations, aligning with environmental sustainability goals.
- Phase Two Enhancements and New Features
- The Scout Learning System will offer online courses for sectional members, integrating training progress and badge records.
- The purchasing process for the e-Scout Shop will be further simplified and optimized.
- The Scout Membership Information System will develop administrative and management functionalities for Scout groups, gradually replacing the existing Youth Membership Information System (YMIS) and simplifying census reporting (E-Census).
- Launch of the "New Wood Badge Training System" and "New Sectional Training Schemes"
In the third quarter of this year, we will pilot the "New Wood Badge Training System" and "New Sectional Training Schemes." These initiatives will inject new vigor and momentum into the Hong Kong Scout Movement. Through a systematic training framework and comprehensive support network, both adult and sectional members will be better equipped to enhance their skills, cultivate leadership abilities, and strengthen teamwork. This will not only facilitate personal growth but also bolster the organization’s cohesion and competitiveness, laying a solid foundation for future challenges.
Creating the Future Together
United in purpose, we can achieve greatness. Let us move forward hand in hand, with passion and steadfast determination, to continue promoting the Scout Movement and contributing to a brighter, better society!
Finally, I sincerely wish everyone good health and success in the New Year! May you continue to gain wisdom and joy from your Scouting journey and reap abundant rewards!
